Even those yucky yucca plants are sweating today. Even those cool desert cats in their shadowy burrows—what’s the word?—perspire. Today, I say, the prairie dogs plunge, the red ants blister, the javelinas hovel, and the tourists eat bagels outside the café under misters or in the gift shop where everything shines but nothing glistens.
